North Cypress Lake
Location: east of Oxford, Mississippi
Date: November 10, 2015
Distance: 3.3 miles
The North Cypress Non-Motorized Trail is a 3.3-mile loop hiking and horse trail around the North Cypress Lake Area in Holly Springs National Forest, Mississippi. The loop consists of a combination of hiking trails and old forest roads that traverse through a mix of pine and hardwood forest typical of northern Mississippi. There are a few small hills on the loop, but total elevation gain is only 285 feet, and in general the trail is quite easy.
Two small bridges cross mostly dry streams, but by far the most interesting part of the trail is where it crosses the dam that impounds North Cypress Lake. In general, this area appears to get very little use, especially in November. North Cypress Lake is near the larger and more popular Puskus Lake, also in Holly Springs National Forest.
See my AllTrails track for detailed route information.
I also have another post from when I hiked this trail in January 2017.
