High Point, NJ
Location: Sussex County, New Jersey
Elevation: 1,803 feet
Date: May 7, 2010
High Point is, as you would expect, the highest point in New Jersey. The summit is easily accessible as there is a road that goes nearly to the summit. From the parking lot it is only a 450 foot walk on a paved path to the summit. At the summit is a 220-foot tall obelisk that was built in 1930. There are good views to the northwest and southeast, but not so much to the north and south, as High Point is on a ridge that runs northeast to southwest. A lake with recreation facilities is located just below the summit at an elevation of about 1,570 feet.
