Louisiana Purchase State Park
Date: April 10, 2015
Location: south of Brinckley, Arkansas
Louisiana Purchase State Park is a small state park that marks the point where land surveys began following the 1803 Louisiana Purchase. Today the area is a headwater swamp, and the only facilities consist of a 950-foot boardwalk with interpretive signs that leads to a granite marker that was placed at the starting point of the surveys in 1926. There was no one else there when I stopped, and it was very buggy, although none of the flies were biting me.
